Watch out for Ashgold… Francis Coffie warns

Francis Coffie marked his first league start of the season by notching the only goal that enabled Ashantigold FC beat Heart of Lions at their dreaded Kpando Park and is immediately declaring the determination to become champions at the end of 2012/13.

Coffie’s second half strike powered Ashgold to a 3rd straight win after drawing their opening three league fixtures as they remain with champions Asante Kotoko, the only unbeaten side thus far. But the former Asante Kotoko and Medeama star tells 90 MINUTES it is a record they want to maintain for as long as possible. “it was my first 90 minutes for Ashgold this season and I scored so the next 90 minutes I play, I will make a goal for Ashgold again. Lions are not a cheap team and the pitch in Kpando is also not the best but whenever we go away, our motto is ‘we either win or draw.’ If we don’t score you, then you can’t also score us,” Francis Coffie told us.

The player who previously also played in Spain’s second tier league is also confident the Aboakese club can finally end a trophy drought stretching back to the last of their three consecutive Premier League titles in 1996. “We are praying that this win at Lions will be a warning to the other teams to watch out for Ashgold. I came here in the second round last season when the club was 12th and we rallied to finish 2nd so all the players are determined to go all the way this time,” Coffie assured.
