We need cash!... New Edubiase cry out

Reigning MTN FA Cup champions, New Edubiase are crying out to government and corporate Ghana to come to their aid financially as the quest to progress in the CAF Confederations’ Cup takes centre stage.

Edubiase did well by churning out a solitary goal win last Sunday in Accra against Congo side, Diable Noirs in the first leg of their preliminary round game with the return encounter set for two weeks later. Encouraging as the result is, same cannot be said of the financial strength of the side who are making their debut in continental football. Accordingly, they need over $60,000 to make the trip for the 2nd leg in Congo.

“The obligation in terms of finances is huge. If you spend in excess of $30,000 to play your home match, then imagine what you will spend travelling to Congo for the return match,” a Vice President of the club disclosed.

He added: “We appeal to government and corporate bodies to give us some support, we are trying to make Mother Ghana proud but the finances are huge.”

On the 1-0 result and New Edubiase’s qualification chances in the two-legged tie, Coach Commey added: “When you score goals at home it makes the work easy for you when you go away.

“We wasted a lot of chances and that’s what we’ll work on in training. We’ll go there to surprise them because all we have to do is take our chances and I believe we’ll be okay.”
