Captain of the Mauritius national team, Jonathan Bru has said they seek to pull a surprise when they engage the Black Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Ghana will play Mauritius in the first leg of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier (AFCON), to be staged in Gabon.

Mauritius are chasing a second AFCON appearance since 1974 where they got eliminated at the group stage.

According to Bru, though Ghana is a strong team and one of the best on the continent, they will do their best to at least earn a point.

He said that, ‘‘We are here to play as we used to do. We are going to try to do a miracle because we know Ghana is a strong team and is one of the best teams in Africa. But we are going to do everything to try win a point at least or the three points.

‘‘I played with John Boye in France nine years ago, and I know he is a strong defender, Dede Ayew too is good but he will not play this game, but we have some players as well and we can surprise them and do something here.

‘‘Everybody wants to do really good and the expectation is always to win a game. That’s our motive and we will try to do our best to win the game. We are prepared, confident, relaxed and positive ahead of the match’’.

Ghana are housed in Group H alongside Rwanda, Mauritius and Mozambique.
