"We will win Ghana 2008" -Nyantakyi

Accra, June 25, GNA - President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi has given the assurance that the Black Stars would be victors in the Ghana 2008 when the rest of Africa descends on the country for the 26th African Cup of Nations.

He told a press conference on Monday that "Come February 20, I am optimistic skipper Stephen Appiah will be holding the Nations Cup in his hands.

"We have everything it takes to win the competition - good players, sponsors, management and an enthusiastic support base." Nyantakyi said the GFA will do whatever it takes for the team to win the tourney to set the tone for the next World Cup scheduled for South Africa in 2010.

The President of the FA, however, called on all stakeholders to endeavour to assist the team with the desired support and prayers to enable it glitter at the biennial event that brings the continents best 16 together.

He called on the corporate world to emulate Gold Fields, the headline sponsors of the Black Stars to push the team to the ultimate height.

About 16 billion of the 27billion three-year sponsorship deal by Gold Fields has so far been spent on the activities of the team. Dr Tony Aubin, Corporate Affairs Manager of Gold Fields said his outfit was satisfied with the manner in which the money has so far been utilized.

He underscored the company's desire to lend the team every support in their quest to have them win the Nations Cup. Gold Fields will soon announce a different package for the Stars quest in Ghana 2008.
