Why are clubs silent on league sponsorship? - New Edubiase chief

New Edubiase United president Yakubu Abdul Salam has hit out at clubs for refusing to voice out on the sponsor-less Ghana Premier League.

The 2016 season is set to start on 20 February without a headline sponsor after Capital Bank suspended their sponsorship.

This has brought a lot of pressure on clubs to prepare for the new campaign.

For the Edubiase chief, he wants clubs to pile pressure on the Ghana Football Association and push them to find a replacement as headline sponsors.

“All the other clubs have kept mute and none has received any money. It is only Abdul Salam who is talking as others are lying idle,” Abdul Salam said.

“When you talk, people will say you talk too much. After all, we don’t have money and we have been in football business over years and this is not the time for us to use our own pocket money to run our clubs or go for a loan.

“This is the time we have to derive a whole lot of benefit from sponsorship in the game and use it to run our football for our clubs.”
