Accra, June 3, GNA - All is set for the Sports Writers Association of Ghana SWAG) special symposium for all Sports Journalists which comes of on Friday, June 4, 2010 as part of preparation towards the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
The symposium, which is in partnership with Stanbic Bank, will be held at the Media Center of the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra at 09h00 GMT. A statement signed by the Acting General Secretary of SWAG, William Dodzi Ezah said the symposium will take a look at the historical perspective of the World Cup, with an in-depth analysis of Ghana's opponents at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and provide journalists covering the tournament with adequate information to enhance their reportage.
Also in line for discussion, will be a thorough examination of the potential challenges the media will confront in South Africa and how to overcome them.
Speakers for the symposium include Moses Foh Amoaning, a former boxing chief, who will lecture on the topic "Historical analysis of the World Cup and critical evaluation" with Magnus Rex Danquah, CEO of Ric Consult handling the topic "The Socio-economic impact of the South Africa 2010 FIFA World Cup and potential challenges facing the media."
Renowned broadcaster Joe Lartey will also speak on the topic "Achievements of Africa at the FIFA World Cup."
At the end of the symposium, sports journalists will be expected to be adequately prepared for the World Cup to enhance their reportage. It will be preceded by a brief opening ceremony to be conducted by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Ms Akua Sena Dansua and officials of the Ghana Football Association (GFA). All Sports journalists are therefore cordially invited to attend this special symposium.
