The Ghana FA has denied media reports that Yahaya Mohammed has earned a late-call up to face Egypt in Tuesday’s World Cup playoffs.
Reports in the Ghanaian media have claimed the in-form Kotoko versatile midfielder has been called-up as a replacement for Schalke 04 midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng who is a major doubt with a knee problem.
But Ghana FA spokesperson Ibrahim Sannie Daaara has poured cold water on the reports insisting it’s untrue.
“Coach Kwesi Appiah has not called up Yahaya Mohammed. So we want to put on record that such reports in the media are false,’ Daara told Asempa FM
“There are no plans to call-up any player at this time. We have enough players who can fit into the bill if a player is unable to play for one reason or the other.
“That is why the coach called up 25 players. All the players can replace each other in case of any emergency.
“Yahaya is a fine player but at the moment he is not part of the team. That I believe should settle the matter.”
The Black Stars are bent of qualifying to the world Cup and must negotiate the two-legged ties against the North African country.
