Yartey unlikely to make MLS debut against FC Dallas

American Major League Soccer side Portland Timbers are not likely to have Ghanaian winger Ishmael Yartey in action on Saturday night when they take on FC Dallas at the Providence Park in Oregon in the Major League Soccer.

The 25-year-old former Benfica winger is expected to arrive in Portland on Friday evening after leaving Switzerland – Basel Airport on Friday morning.

Portland manager Caleb Porter was hoping to have the influential winger available for the clash against Dallas as they seek to garner home their first league win of the season.

However documentation held his arrival back until he travelled on Friday morning.

Portland have acquired Yartey on loan from French side Sochaux while he was with Swiss Super League side FC Sion.

Yartey will join exiled Ghana keeper Adam Kwarasey and former Inter Allies forward Abdul Safiu Fataw who are already at the club.

He will stay with Portland until June.
