Sumed Ibrahim, (5-9, 150 pounds) earned a slew of honors at the University of Maryland, including First Team All-American honors in 2002 and 2003. In 2003, the native of Tamale, Ghana, was a finalist for the Hermann Trophy, collegiate soccer’s equivalent of the Heisman. He was also a three-time First Team All-ACC selection. Sumed scored 25 goals and 78 points in 86 games at Maryland.
The 24-year-old was taken by the Fire with the 20th overall pick in the 2004 MLS SuperDraft. He appeared in three games (one start) for Chicago in 2004, totaling 82 minutes.

Ghanaian making his debut in the MLS is Sumed Ibrahim, who was picked by the Chicago Fire after a successful college career at the University of Maryland, where he was rated one of the best players in America.
The 23-year-old Ghana forward played for the Chesapeake Dragons in the United States Premier Developmental league during the 2001 season.
He also helped his secondary school in Kentucky win the national championships in 1997, where he also starred in the basketball team.
