Accra, April 18, GNA - Henry Adjei-Darko, Ghana's number one seed has moved up in the world rankings, following his impressive performance in the Futures Tournament played in Nigeria recently, a release from the International Tennis Federation (ITF) said.
Adjei-Darko who emerged winner of the first phase of the tournament but got eliminated in the second round of the event picked 19 points from the two events to move to 424 on the world rankings. Prior to this achievement, the player was ranked 523 by the ITF. Adjei-Darko told the GNA Sports that his target for the year is to be among the best 300 after which he would aim at the first 100 by the close of next year.
The player said he has more tournaments to compete in before the year ends and expressed the hope that he would be able to achieve his target by participating in all the events.
Adjei-Darko therefore appealed to cooperate bodies to come to his aid in his quest to lift the image of Ghana high in the discipline. The number one seed is expected to leave Accra for Kuwait to participate in his next tournament after which he would move to Uzbekistan to engage in another competition in the month of May.
