All roads in Kumasi will lead to the 4 Garrison Officers Mess on Monday, September 21, where this year’s annual Donyma Amateurs Tennis Championship, will take place.
The Donyma Amateurs Tournament, which is noted for producing fireworks, is organized for certain categories of members of Mess Tennis to showcase their immense tennis skills.
The eventual winner of the tournament would be promoted to the ‘Pro’ category of the club, alongside mouthwatering prizes including the glittering Donyma trophy.
The Administrative and Human Resource Manager of Donyma Steel Complex Ltd, Mr. Peter Karikari Bimpeh, said his outfit is impressed about efforts of Mess Tennis to promote the sport in the Ashanti Region.
Donyma Steel Complex Ltd, he noted, feels proud to associate with Mess Tennis to boost the sport, promising his company’s continuous support to the club in realizing its objectives.

In all about 33 men and 12 women of the club are expected to participate in this year’s championship which has been categorized into men singles and women singles categories.
Crack tennis stars such as Francis Marshall, Peprah Sarpong, Ernest Antwi, Kwame Asare, Anthony Wularu, Capt. G.G. Klu-Amereka, Brig. Gen. J Adu Boapong, Benjamin Brayie Edusei and Yaw Nimo Baffour, would battle for the men’s trophy.
Kwadwo Kyei, Maxwell Oswusu, Dr. Alexis Nane Beifuba, Eric Asante, DCOP Kwasi Duku, Michael Kyei Baffour, Eric Agyare Osei Asante, Kofi Nti Amoako and Dr. Cudjoe Diaba, would also be in contention for top honours.
Dzifa Ahorlu, Linda Oduro, Paulina Asemiteng, Charllotte Nyamekye, Mrs. Evelyn Addai Mensah, Mrs. Peggy Oppong- Bawuah, Brenda Bangdome and Nana Ama Dwomoh, would play in the ladies category.
Mess Tennis President, Samuel Ampadu-Kyei aka ‘Kyikyiss’, said the club organizes the tournament annually to promote competition among the Team B side of the club.
He commended Donyma for assisting Mess Tennis to organize this year’s competition, appealing to other companies and individuals to support the club in the promotion of tennis in the Ashanti Region and Ghana.
