Ghana’s top ranked tennis Star, Raymond Hayford is likely to miss Ghana’s 2015 Davis Cup qualifiers later this year.
According to Hayford, the ministry of Youth and Sports is not in a position to pay his outstanding $10,000 for participating in international competition for the country hence this decision.
Hayford who is billed to travel to Canada later this month (February) for a club championship says he doesn’t know if he will play for Ghana in the qualifiers due to nonpayment of his arrears.
“I don’t know if I will play for Ghana during the Davis Cup qualifiers, they owe me and they have to pay me. It’s about time we respect athletes in the country and move forward, it’s as simple as that”.
“I am going to Canada for club Championship and I don’t know if I will return for the Davis Cup”.
