Table Tennis League enters penultimate week

Accra, Aug. 27, GNA - The national Akosombo Textiles Table Tennis League enters the penultimate round of matches on Saturday, August 30, at the D.G. Hathiramani Sports Hall of the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra. A statement signed by signed by Kwame Amponfi, General Secretary of the Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) copied to GNA Sports said that in the men's division, league leaders Navy will face the Greater Accra team in a contest the former is tagged as favourites. Navy occupies the top spot after 12 weeks on 42 points while Greater Accra rests at the 19th position with a modest 10 points.

The point difference between the two teams clearly confirms their strengths in the league.

Another interesting match will be the clash between second placed Immigration Service and mid-placed Backhanders. Immigration are two points adrift leaders Navy and would be seeking for a convincing win to close-in on the leaders.

Other interesting pairings will see Police Service coming up against Vilca Bamba while Army face the Brong Ahafo team. Street Academy, Accra Academy, Educators and La Dadekotopon teams will clash against Cape Coast, Western Loopers, New Juaben and Ashanti Loopers teams respectively.

Accra Poly will come up against Tesano Club while Koforidua battles CEPS.

Lamptey Mills, Mallas Cold Store and Fire Service will also come up against Winneba Advanced College, White Loopers and Air Force teams respectively. In the female division, Top Spinners will face GUSA in the top most attraction.

Greater Accra will be up against Brong Ahafo, Airforce gear up against Fire Service and Navy face Backhanders. The Army team will engage CEPS while Immigration Service contends with Street Academy. Police will face Ashanti Loopers while Western face off against New Juaben.
