Pascal Ziyab defied all odds to win the National Tennis Ranking trophy for the first time since it's inception.
In a thrilling display and a combination of power and skill, the number four seed completely overwhelmed the number three seed, Benjamin Fumi in two straight sets 6:3 6:1, to the delight of all present at the 4th Garrison Tennis Club in Kumasi.
It became obvious to all present, how much the win meant to Ziyab, after he burst into uncontrollable tears after Fumi's return went into the net to signify the end of the game.
This is the second tour of 2016 and drew participation from 32 athletes including 10 top players from Accra excluding the national number one George Darko, who is out of the country to play in an ITF Pro Circuit tournament in the USA.
The tournament was sponsored by Ismaila Babolat, Mcdan Group of companies and individual contributions.
Their efforts were honoured by the Regional Association.
Meanwhile, the event presented the opportunity to recognize the winners of the All Africa Games competition Gold medalist.
He received a framed photograph of himself presenting his gold medal to the Otumfuo Osei Tutu Ababio.
