105 people burnt beyond recognition following a tanker explosion

A total number of 105 people have been killed following an explosion at a fuel tank in Majiya town, Taura Local Government Area of ​​Jigawa State.

The Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Shiisu Adam, confirmed the figure in an interview
He said about 55 people suffered injuries of varying degrees and were admitted to Ringim General Hospital.

"As I speak, the death toll is about 105 victims and the number of injured is 55 compared to the 50 confirmed earlier," he said.

According to him, the incident happened around 23:30 on Tuesday evening in the town of Majia, when the driver of the tanker lost control near Khadija University.

The tanker, he said, was leaving Kano, route to Nguru town in Yobe State, when the tanker driver lost control of the vehicle and exploded.
It is gathered that after the incident, some people went to scope the fuel, which resulted in the death of many people.

It was also gathered that those who were severely injured were also transported to the Federal Medical Center Birnin Kudu due to the limited number of beds at the Ringim General Hospital.
