The father of a 26-year-old man named Chikwado Eze, who perished during a poorly executed fortification in the state, has been arrested by the Enugu State Police Command.

Last week, a tragic incident occurred in the Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State, specifically in Ugbaike, Enugu Ezike. Reports state that Chikwado returned to his village to inform his father, Mr. Uwakwe Eze, that he had obtained a visa to travel overseas.

But in order to guarantee his success abroad, his father insisted on a fortification ritual and brought him to see Onuwa, a native physician.

Chikwado had to be buried alive for one hour and thirty minutes in order to be adequately fortified. Regretfully, Chikwado was discovered dead when he was exhumed after the allotted period.

In a statement released late Tuesday evening, Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer DSP Daniel Ndukwe confirmed the incident and stated that the native doctor and the deceased's father had been taken into custody.

The statement claims that Uwakwe Eze, 67, and Enuwa Odugu, 48, a native doctor, were arrested for conspiring to kill Eze's 26-year-old son, Chikwado Celestine Eze.
