The Member of Parliament-elect for Asante Akyem North Constituency, Ohene Kwame Frimpong, popularly known as O.K. Frimpong, has extended a helping hand to victims of the devastating fire that engulfed Kantamanto Market in Accra's Central Business District.

During his visit, O.K. Frimpong focused on traders and business operators from his constituency who were affected by the tragic incident. Addressing the victims, he acknowledged the challenges many of them face, noting that most traders at Kantamanto operate on loans, making their losses even more difficult to bear.

To provide immediate relief, the MP-elect donated GH₵10,000 to assist traders from Asante Akyem North who were impacted by the disaster. He also took the opportunity to pray for the victims, asking for God's protection and strength during this difficult time.

The fire, which broke out in the early hours of Thursday, January 2, claimed one life, left 14 people seriously injured, and destroyed over 7,000 shops, affecting more than 30,000 traders. Efforts to combat the blaze were hindered by water shortages and logistical challenges, exacerbating the devastation.

Kantamanto Market is one of the largest marketplaces in Ghana, drawing traders from all regions. The incident has left many families and businesses in despair, with calls for improved fire safety measures and better support for affected traders.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fire while coordinating relief efforts for the victims.
