John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was proclaimed the winner of the 24th presidential election. 48 hours after Ghanaians cast their ballots, the Electoral Commission made the news. The tone of Agya Koo's comments changed when Mahama hailed his win and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, his opponent, admitted loss.

Agya Koo, a fervent advocate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), had openly opposed Mahama's comeback to power during the campaign.
