The founder and leader of the Glorious Wave Church, Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi, has criticized Sammy Gyamfi, the communications officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), for his visit to Rev. Isaac Owusu-Bempah at the Glorious Word Power Ministries International.
Badu Kobi took issue with Sammy Gyamfi’s decision to commend Owusu-Bempah for prophesying a win for President-elect John Dramani Mahama, who ran on the NDC ticket in the 2024 general elections.
According to Badu Kobi, the credit given to Owusu-Bempah was misplaced, asserting that Owusu-Bempah played no significant role in the spiritual efforts leading to Mahama’s victory. Instead, Badu Kobi claimed that he was the one who carried out divinely instructed sacrifices in the Ashanti Region to hinder supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from voting.
Addressing his congregation on December 22, 2024, Badu Kobi expressed his dissatisfaction, stating:
"Now those who are talking, when NPP was in power, who are those who caused us suffering? That is for another day. They should get ready and prove where I drink blood. They think I am going to spare them. No, they won't have peace."
He further accused certain individuals of targeting him for persecution, saying:
"You can't cause trouble here and enter there, for what? Who is listening to you today? You will be shocked to see what will happen. Evil people. I get to the airport; I must be searched. I get to this place; this thing will happen. I am in my car; they stop me and search the car…with only one man of God just because he said NPP was in power."
Prophet Badu Kobi’s remarks highlight ongoing tensions within the religious and political landscape, with clergymen becoming increasingly vocal about their roles and influence in political affairs. His assertions add to the complex dynamics surrounding the aftermath of the 2024 elections.
