Daniel Asiedu, also known as 'Sexy Don Don,' has refuted the police’s claim that he begged for forgiveness to appease the soul of the late J.B. Danquah Adu, the former Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North, in order for his spirit to rest. Asiedu admitted that such a statement appeared in his confession, but insisted that he signed it under duress.

During cross-examination by Principal State Attorney Sefakor Batsa in the High Court in Accra, Asiedu described the video showing him kneeling and pleading for forgiveness as a "staged" scene. He also denied demonstrating how he entered Danquah Adu's East Legon home, robbed, and murdered him, suggesting that had he been involved, the evidence would have shown as much.

Asiedu further claimed that during the reconstruction, he was coerced by the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, who allegedly threatened him to “do what I am told.”

“I was led to the house with a gun. When we arrived, I was made to remove my sandals, walk barefoot, and kneel,” Asiedu explained. He added that he was not at the residence on February 8, 2016, and noted that if he had been, the household staff and security would have seen him.

Asiedu also denied claims that J.B. Danquah Adu’s mobile phones were found in his possession. He explained that he had gone to the Regional Police Command to report a theft, not because he was in possession of the phones.

The accused also dismissed allegations regarding a woman named Janet, whom the police identified as his pregnant wife. Asiedu denied any relationship with her, calling Janet a commercial sex worker with whom he had a one-night stand.

Furthermore, Asiedu rejected the prosecution’s claim that bloodstained items, including a handkerchief and T-shirt retrieved from the crime scene, contained 100% of his DNA.

Asiedu is standing trial for the murder of J.B. Danquah Adu, who was killed at his residence on February 8, 2016. He has pleaded not guilty to the charge of murder. The court, presided over by Justice Lydia Osei Marfo, has remanded him into custody, with the case adjourned to November 21, 2024, for the prosecution to complete cross-examination.
