McDan Aviation, a subsidiary of the McDan Group, has expressed disappointment over the Ghana Airport Company Limited’s (GACL) decision to restrict access to its aviation terminal.

In a statement issued by its CEO, Kwaku Ampronfi, the company described the move as unexpected, especially as discussions to address related issues are still ongoing.

McDan Aviation acknowledged its financial obligations regarding the operation of the Fixed Base Operator (FBO) terminal, emphasizing that significant payments have been made in the past. The company also noted that a payment was made last week, with plans to resume further payments in January 2025.

However, the company refuted reports that it owes GACL $3 million for the terminal, labeling such claims as erroneous.

The statement further addressed a separate legal dispute involving a parcel of land acquired from GACL, which is currently under litigation due to claims from a third party. McDan Aviation stated that it had informed GACL of its decision to withhold payments related to the land until the court resolves the matter.

McDan Aviation stated that it had informed GACL that payments related to this parcel would be withheld until the court proceedings are resolved.

"It is regrettable that GACL has chosen to take this line of action, particularly when the matters at hand are not interconnected," said Mr. Ampronfi.

Despite the challenges, McDan Aviation reaffirmed its commitment to engaging constructively with GACL to achieve an amicable resolution.
