Nana Apeaning Twum Griffiths, a Clinical Laboratory Scientist, has raised serious concerns about the impact of mining activities on the reproductive health of men living around mining communities.

Speaking in an interview on Radio1’s 'Our Land Our Future' program Griffiths stated that the chemical pollution in these areas is weakening men’s performance in bed.

"Men living around mining communities are weak in bed due to the pollution they are exposed to," Griffiths revealed during the interview. He highlighted that the harmful substances, particularly mercury and other toxic chemicals used in mining processes, are having a damaging effect on the health of men in these regions.

"The constant exposure to these hazardous chemicals disrupts the hormonal balance in men and can lead to a decline in reproductive health. Over time, this manifests as weakness in sexual performance," he added.

According to Nana Griffiths, the situation is growing worse as mining activities continue to expand, exposing more residents to health risks.

"If these issues are not addressed urgently, we will continue to see a decline in men's health and fertility, which could have far-reaching implications for the communities," he stressed.
