NSMQ24: Mfantsipim School sends Prempeh College back to sofoline

The 2024 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) quarter-final showdown between Mfantsipim School, Prempeh College, and Swedru Secondary School turned into a thrilling battle for academic glory. Held on Thursday, October 24, at the SGS Auditorium in Cape Coast, the contest was packed with electrifying moments as these powerhouse schools competed fiercely for a spot in the semi-finals.

From the very beginning, the competition was intense. Prempeh College opened strong, taking the lead in the first round with 30 points, followed closely by Mfantsipim with 29 points, while Swedru Secondary struggled with 13 points. However, the Botwe Boys (Mfantsipim) quickly mounted a comeback, seizing the lead in the second round with 38 points, as Prempeh trailed closely behind with 35 points.

As the rounds progressed, the atmosphere grew increasingly charged, with every question testing the participants' knowledge, strategy, and composure. Mfantsipim widened the gap in the fourth round, reaching 50 points while Prempeh College followed with 46 points, and Swedru Secondary remained at 24 points.

In a dramatic twist, Prempeh College staged a breathtaking comeback in the final round, tying with Mfantsipim at 53 points and pushing the contest into a nerve-wracking tie-breaker. The audience watched in anticipation as the Botwe Boys emerged victorious, securing their spot in the semi-finals after an unforgettable intellectual battle.

Swedru Secondary School, though finishing with 27 points, put up a commendable fight in a contest that demanded excellence from every team. Mfantsipim’s triumph and Prempeh College's close second-place finish highlighted the fierce competition and the exceptional caliber of the schools involved.
