The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Ningo-Prampram Constituency Sam Dzata George has reacted to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s remarks on Speaker Alban Bagbin’s declaration which made the National Democratic Congress (NDC) the new majority on Thursday, October 17, 2024.
On Saturday, October 19, Vice President Bawumia ridiculed the NDC for having the shortest majority tenure ever. He asked the main opposition party to seek their majority through an election and not “manufacture” it in parliament.
On Facebook, Monday, October 21, Sam George responded to Dr Bawumia.
“In this entire matter of the status of the 4 MPs, the most uninformed argument I have heard is from Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. Extremely shallow!” Sam George admonished.
“He claims if the NDC wants a majority, we should go to the polling station. The majority he claims the NPP has in the 8th Parliament, did they get it at the polling station? How many Parliamentary seats did the NPP win in 2020? 137. How many did the NDC win? 137! So where did he get his majority from?”
The lawmaker went on: “It took a DECISION OF THE SPEAKER; the same Speaker they want to crucify to determine that Hon. Asiamah would be counted as part of the NPP Caucus to grant them the majority. Their majority rests in the pronouncement of Rt. Hon Alban S.K. Bagbin.”
“Today, they claim he has no power to make a determination and declaration on who holds the majority in the same Parliament of Ghana. Shameless hypocrisy on full display,” he concluded. “Tomorrow is indeed pregnant.”
