TaylorCrabbe, in collaboration with ClientEarth and AROCHA Ghana, has successfully held its first legal working group meeting of 2025 under the theme, "Mobilizing for Continued Advocacy on Illegal Mining."

The meeting, held on Thursday, 16th January 2025, at 9:00 AM  at ERATA Hotel, East Legon, Accra brought together legal experts, environmental advocates, media, and stakeholders to deliberate on strategies to combat the persistent issue of illegal mining, also known as galamsey, in Ghana.

Participants discussed the devastating environmental, social, and economic impacts of illegal mining, including deforestation, water pollution, and community displacement.

The discussions centered on strengthening legal frameworks and enforcement mechanisms, increasing public awareness, and mobilizing multi-sectoral efforts to tackle the problem.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to advocacy, capacity building, and stakeholder collaboration. TaylorCrabbe expressed optimism about the outcomes.

This meeting marks a significant step in the fight against illegal mining, underscoring the importance of legal advocacy in promoting environmental justice.
