Ahanta West: Dilapidated Ahuntunano M/A primary school rehabilitated

The farming community of Ahuntunano in the Ahanta West Municipality of the Western Region has received a significant boost to education with the commissioning of a newly rehabilitated three-unit classroom block for the MA Primary School.

The dilapidated Ahuntunano M/A primary school in the Ahanta West Municipality of the Western Region has been rehabilitated.

The project brings much-needed relief to the community, whose school building had been in a state of disrepair for years.
The rehabilitation was done and commissioned by the Southey Contracting Limited. This company provides services to both offshore and onshore facilities in the petroleum industry in the Western Region.

Handing over the school project to the management of the school, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Southey contracting limited, Kofi Yalley commended the management of the school for supporting the completion of the project.

He emphasised the company’s commitment to human resource development, describing it as essential to national progress.



"Last year, we were in Butre in the Municipality to commission a bridge we constructed for the community. This year, after reviewing many applications, we chose to assist Ahuntunano MA Primary because education remains a top priority for us," he stated.

He indicated that after visiting the classrooms, they observed that several classrooms lacked adequate desks for the pupils.

He assured the community that the company would provide enough desks to enhance the learning environment and urged both teachers and pupils to maintain the facility well to ensure its longevity.

On his part, the Ahanta West Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), John Agyare, commended Southey contracting limited for rehabilitating the dilapidated Ahuntunano M/A primary school.

"In fact, Southey contracting limited deserves highly commendation, they have done well. This is not the first time they have helped this school, they love this community and right now the school doesn't have anything to complain about", he acknowledged.

He said the rehabilitation of the classroom block would go a long way to improve the academic performance in the school.

He urged the parents to invest in their children's education to become responsible citizens.

He advised the pupils to take their studies seriously.

He also tasked the headmaster of the school to help the pupils to learn and learn well to become responsible citizens.

"Now that this classroom block has been rehabilitated, we must see the improvement in the kids BECE results, you have good classroom block, you have textbooks and other learning materials so we are expecting you to learn harder, please headmaster I'm tasking you to make sure the pupils take their studies seriously because the children here are our future leaders", he stated.

He, therefore, took the opportunity to urge the staff and pupils to maintain the facility.

Deputy Director in charge of Supervision and Monitoring at the Ahanta West Education Directorate, Alloysius Buadi, described the classroom block rehabilitation as timely and pledged that the building would be properly maintained.

Nana Egya Butsir X, the Divisional Chief of Butre thanked the company for coming to the aid of the school.

He advised parents to be more involved in their children's education, stressing the importance of parental supervision in ensuring academic success.

The CEO, therefore seized the opportunity to donate some books to the school.

Moreover, the pupils expressed their happiness and commended the company for rehabilitating their dilapidated classroom block for them.

They pledged to take their studies serious to become responsible citizens in future.

The newly commissioned classroom block is expected to significantly improve learning conditions for the children of Ahuntunano and its surrounding communities, fostering a better educational experience for the community.
