Cape Coast, a city rich in history and culture, could soon have a transformative leader at the helm of its development. Ibrahim Muntari, a vibrant, energetic, and accomplished son of the land, has emerged as a strong contender for the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) position for Cape Coast.
Born and raised in Cape Coast, Muntari's life story is deeply intertwined with the city he calls home. His educational journey began in the basic schools of Cape Coast, continued at University Practice Secondary School, and advanced at Cape Coast Polytechnic (now Cape Coast Technical University), where he earned an HND in Marketing. He furthered his education with a B-Tech in Marketing from Koforidua Technical University and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Labour Studies at the University of Cape Coast.
Ibrahim Muntari has been a committed member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), contributing significantly to the party's growth and electoral strategies. In 2023, he contested the NDC primaries for the Cape Coast North parliamentary seat. As a founding member of the National Caucus for NDC Parliamentary Aspirants in 2023, he worked tirelessly to ensure unity within the party, preventing aspirants from running as independent candidates ahead of the 2024 general elections.
Muntari’s political involvement extends beyond his constituency. He toured the length and breadth of Ghana, campaigning for the NDC, served as a member of the Central Regional Election Collation Team for 2024, and was instrumental in the Central Regional Zongo Caucus Committee. He also played a key role on the six-member Campaign Strategic Planning Board for MP-elect Dr. Hon. Kwamina Minta Nyarku (Ragga).
Beyond politics, Ibrahim Muntari’s contributions to Cape Coast’s development are remarkable. He founded the Cape Coast Job Center, providing employment opportunities for the youth, and has made generous donations to orphanages, prisons, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.
Muntari was pivotal in the conceptualization and execution of transformative projects such as the Wakanda City of Return initiative and the Asebu Pan African Village. These projects have strengthened Cape Coast's reputation as a hub for African Americans and the diaspora seeking to reconnect with their roots. He also played significant roles in planning major events like the Fetu Afahye, PANAFEST, and the Year of Return in the Central Region.
As a seasoned entrepreneur, Muntari has established and managed several successful businesses, including Connecting Strong Bridges to Africa and The Abraham Smiles Foundation, which focuses on community development. He has also held leadership roles in prominent companies such as BTL Africa, Adepa Africa Investment, and Malaika Media Network.
Ibrahim Muntari’s extensive experience in governance, entrepreneurship, and community service underscores his readiness to serve as the Metropolitan Chief Executive of Cape Coast. With a proven track record of dedication, innovation, and impactful leadership, Muntari stands as the best candidate to guide the city toward a future of growth and prosperity.
Considering his lifelong commitment to Cape Coast and the remarkable achievements highlighted, it is evident that Ibrahim Muntari possesses the vision, passion, and expertise needed to elevate Cape Coast to new heights. His leadership will not only uphold the city’s rich heritage but also pave the way for its transformation into a modern hub of opportunity and development.
As Cape Coast looks toward a future of growth and innovation, Ibrahim Muntari stands ready to lead the charge, ensuring the city reaches its full potential.
