The Member of Parliament for Cape Coast North Constituency, and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate, Dr. Kwamena Minta Nyarku affectionately called Ragga has official launched his campaign at the Pedu Park with an appeal to his constituents to retain him in Parliament.
He emphasised as a first time Member of Parliament he has represented his constituents well and contributed immensely to improving their lot and deserves another term to serve.
The launch held at the Pedu Park on Sunday, 6th October, 2024 begun with a walk from Ankaful junction through Esuokyir, Kakumdo, Cape Coast Sports Stadium, Abura and finally converging at the Pedu Park with large party faithfuls singing party songs and hoisting party flags and other paraphernalia.
The launch saw scores of party faithfuls and constituents showing their support for the member of parliament. The MP, Dr. Minta Nyarku in return expressed his gratitude to the people of Cape Coast North for the show of support and promised to work even harder when retained.
Recounting some of the challenges he has faced as the MP, Ragga highlighted his application for the DRIP machines to fix an Astro Turf on the Pedu Park was refused. Again, when he requested for same machines to fix some bad roads within the constituency, "I was refused again but thanks to God and through my own efforts the Astro Turf is ongoing at Pedu Junction and some of the bad roads are being worked on", he stressed.
While admitting being a first time MP, he underscored that he had achieved a lot of his promises made to the constituents, citing interventions in education, health, sports, entrepreneurship and community development. "I cannot mention all the interventions but I intend to do more when you give me the opportunity to serve again", Ragga stated.
The Central Regional Chairman for the NDC, Prof. Richard Asiedu, on the other hand entreated the electorates in both Cape Coast North and South constituencies to vote for former President John Dramani Mahama and his parliamentary candidates, suggesting an outright rejection of Dr. Bawumia and the NPP parliamentary candidates. He then described the NPP PC's as arrogant.
He took the opportunity to strongly warn the people of Cape Coast against handing over power to the NPP parliamentary candidates saying, "It will be a disaster for the constituencies if you allow these NPP candidates to rule you," he advised.
The Regional Chairman further pointed out the need for both Cape Coast constituencies to be led by persons with dignity, prestige and proven character and not those with questionable characters and credibility issues. "Please, people of Cape Coast North, never make a mistake by voting for a parliamentary candidate allegedly involved in galamsey activities", Prof. Asiedu cautioned.
As the campaign gathers momentum and with barely about two months to the polls in December, electorates would keenly be observing proceedings, analysing campaign messages as well as assessing the candidates to make inform decisions and choices.
Many of the constituents expressed joy and satisfaction with the work of the sitting MP, Dr Kwamina Minta Nyarku and promised to be retain him in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.
