Jordan Ayew of Leicester City has been designated the new captain of the Black Stars by head coach Otto Addo. He will guide Ghana in the pivotal 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger.

Addo made this decision after receiving a lot of criticism for selecting Mohammed Kudus of West Ham as captain during Ghana's most recent AFCON qualifiers against Sudan.

One of the team's most seasoned players, Ayew, reportedly had a candid conversation with Addo to allay any worries about his leadership position.

In addition to acknowledging Ayew's extensive experience and dedication, the coach chose to name him captain in an effort to boost team spirit during this trying time in the qualifying campaign.
