Accra daylight robbery: Gunmen escape from Adabraka market carrying sacks of cash On Saturday, November 2, a daring daylight heist that took place in full view of the stunned locals rocked Accra's Adabraka Market.
A man in a red Toyota Corolla parked close to the bustling market was attacked by four men wearing masks and carrying heavy weapons. According to witnesses, the bandits came up to the car with their weapons pulled and immediately started shooting several shots into the air to scatter the gathering.
As gunfire reverberated around the market, shoppers and sellers scurried for cover, hiding behind stalls and hurrying to safety. Large sacks of cash were kept inside the Toyota, which the burglars quickly forced their way into. They left the scene in a matter of minutes, still firing rounds to keep onlookers at bay as they placed the suitcases into their own getaway car.
Witnesses recorded the heist, which quickly went viral on social media, capturing the gunmen's quick, well-coordinated moves and the panic that engulfed the marketplace. Although the Ghana Police Service has not yet verified the specifics of the heist, the widely circulated films online have sparked worries about local safety.
