Renowned Ghanaian actress and socialite Andrea Owusu, better known by her stage as Efia Odo, has sparked controversy with her optimistic forecast that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), will win the next general elections.

On Monday, December 2, 2024, Efia posted a tweet on X (previously Twitter) stating, "Bawumia will be the next president of Ghana. After the election, thank God and bookmark this tweet. It is what the Lord has done. Reactions to her statement were mixed, with some supporters accusing her of accepting bribes to back the NPP candidate.

When a follower asked why she wanted Bawumia to win, she replied, “It’s what God wants.” She further addressed another follower who accused her of taking bribes, saying, “I didn’t say I’m voting for Bawumia; I said he’s winning the election. Even if I tweeted Mahama or Cheddar is winning, you would’ve said I’ve taken a bribe.”

Social media discussions have been sparked by her remarks, with both proponents and detractors offering their opinions on her forecast. Her tweet has given the current political conversation a new dimension as the elections get near.
