After twenty years in the music business, Ghanaian hiplife star Mzbel has spoken out about the fact that he has never received an award. During her peak, Mzbel was one of Ghana's most well-known female artists and was well-liked in Nigeria, Liberia, Ivory Coast, and Kenya. She rose to stardom in 2004 with her debut album, Awoso Me.

“I have been in the industry for 20 years; I’ve never received any award,” she said in an interview on Joy FM

“If I were starting music today, I would put more effort in my branding. The branding wasn’t put together well. I was just put out like that, no proper branding. I would go on radio and say anything, put on any outfit, go where I am not supposed to,” she added

She thinks Ghana hasn't properly acknowledged her accomplishments, though.
