In an interview on Ahomka FM and Ocean 1 TV on November 14, 2024, the parliamentary candidate for the Progressive People's Party (PPP), Emmanuel Kofi Duku, raised concerns about the neglect of monuments and talents in Elmina.
According to him, all talents, including sports, must be invested in to help develop such talents. To enhance talents, he will see to it that various festivals in Komenda Edina Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) will include sports and beauty pageants. "This is the reason we have Nduom Sports Stadium here," he stressed.
Speaking about monuments, he reiterated that low accountability has been the reason for the poor maintenance and neglect since ages, as no one is held accountable for damages and resources.
When asked about his solution to this problem when given the nod, he answered, "The vision of PPP is accountability, progression, and development, which is why I will be accountable to the people so far as Monument is concerned." Elmina may not be better off without a tourist site, he emphasized.
