Award-winning singer, Boabis born Bismark Boakye Yiadom has revealed why it is not proper for an artiste nominated to solely vote for themselves to win an award.

"I have won a Music Video of the Year award before at the Central Music Awards so I don't see it as wasting your time and resources on such a yearly event.

"Besides when you're nominated it's your fans that are supposed to do the voting and not the artiste necessarily voting for yourself solely to win," he told Amansan Krakye in an interview.

Boabis who won 'Music Video of the Year' at the 2022 Central Music Awards (CMA) said solely voting for yourself to win isn't a way to analyze your progress in the music industry.

"Fine if you have the funds and you want to vote for yourself no problem but let the fans vote so that you can use it to analyze yourself and see how well you're doing.

"The award I won in 2022 at the Central Music Award was mostly my fans at Twifo Praso who voted including my mates at UCC and my friends at GRA," he disclosed on Property FM in Cape Coast.

He added "So I don't see how I lost huge funds in trying to vote for myself solely just to pick up the award and it's a good thing to be rewarded for doing something which pushes you more".
