The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has given the Ghana Education Service and Police Service three days to prosecute a student who has stabbed the left eye of a teacher in Offinso.

Speaking exclusively with 3News’ Daniel Opoku, the General Secretary of GNAT, Thomas Musah Tanko, said teachers may not hesitate to withdraw their services from next week if duty bearers fail to act swiftly.

According to Mr. Tanko, on November 8, he received a report from Asuoso Senior High School in Offinso. In the said report, a teacher had been stabbed in the left eye by a student after the teacher had asked the student, who was loitering, to enter the classroom.

Currently, the teacher has lost his left eye, while duty bearers such as the Ghana Education and the Ghana Police services are yet to act. The General Secretary, who has been angered by the situation, has served notice of industrial disharmony

“The teacher has lost his left eye, meaning that for the rest of his life, he will be going through life with only one eye. His medical bills and all those things, who will take care of it?” he asked.

“That’s why we are by this medium telling the duty bearers the Ghana Education Service that if by next week we do not hear anything positive, we will decide the next line of action." Mr Tanko warned
