In the recently concluded national elections, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, the member of parliament for Ablekuma West in the Greater Accra Region, lost her seat.

In a hotly contested election that was at one point chaotic, Rev. Kweku Addo, the candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), defeated the Communications Minister.

With 31,866 votes, Rev. Addo won, and Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful received 26,575.

After winning her first election in 2012, the Minister was running for reelection for the fourth time.
