The 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) applicants whose results were withheld because of suspected malpractices have been urged to cooperate by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
The exam board said in a statement that the results were withheld with the Ghana Examinations Committee's permission during its 37th meeting. But since then, investigations have started, and they are currently nearing the end of their course.
John Kapi, Head of Public Affairs, signed the statement, which stated that the examination of the impacted scripts had finished. Selected WAEC officials have extended an invitation to the concerned candidates to interact.
“These meetings, which require candidates to be accompanied by their parents or guardians, are aimed at affording them a fair hearing before final decisions are made on their cases,” the statement states.
“During the meetings, candidates will be given an opportunity to respond to the allegations against them and provide written statements in the presence of their guardians.”
