Wa, Sunyani, and Ho are promoted from municipalities to metropolises by Akufo-Addo.

Executive approval has been given by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to upgrade a few districts to municipalities and municipalities to metropolises.
In a statement released on Wednesday, December 4, the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization, and Rural Development (MLGRD) said that the upgrades were made in response to its request and in compliance with the applicable laws specified in Act 936.The Ho Municipal Assembly, Sunyani Municipal Assembly, New Juaben Municipal Assembly, and Wa Municipal Assembly are among the municipalities that have been elevated to metropolises.
The Karaga District Assembly, Brim North District Assembly, and Offinso North District Assembly are the districts that have been elevated to the status of municipalities.
