President John Dramani Mahama has announced a comprehensive reform of the cabinet, cutting the number of ministries from 30 to 23 in an audacious attempt to improve efficiency and streamline government operations.

His larger plan to establish a more efficient and effective governmental system includes this choice.

As part of this restructuring, a number of ministries have been eliminated or combined.

The Ministry of Communication will now oversee the activities of the former Ministry of Information, which has been abolished.

Additionally, the Ministry of Water and Sanitation has been eliminated, with sanitation responsibilities moving to the Ministry of Local Government and water-related duties being added to the Ministry of Works and Housing.

Both the Ministry of National Security and the Ministry of Railways have been eliminated.

The Ministry of Sports and Youth has been divided into the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation in an effort to better serve the needs of young people.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Chieftaincy was abolished, and the Ministry of Local Government currently handles its duties.
