CLOGSAG, the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana, is set to embark on a nationwide strike starting November 7, 2024. This decision comes after the government failed to finalize a new salary structure, despite signing a Memorandum of Understanding over a year ago.
The association initially announced its intention to strike on October 22, anticipating that the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission would miss its October 31 deadline. CLOGSAG's Executive Secretary, Isaac Bampoe Addo, expressed frustration, stating that the January 1, 2025 implementation date is unrealistic. He also mentioned that CLOGSAG will no longer work with FWSC's CEO, Benjamin Arthur, due to perceived bad faith.
Reasons for the Strike:
-Delay in Finalizing New Salary Structure: The government has failed to meet the agreed-upon deadline for implementing a new salary structure.
-Lack of Trust: CLOGSAG's Executive Secretary has lost confidence in FWSC's CEO, Benjamin Arthur.
