viral video has emerged, showing an unidentified young man from Hohoe in the Volta Region being punished with ten strokes of the cane for tearing down campaign posters of John-Peter Amewu, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Hohoe. Jonas-Kwofi Worlanyo, Vice Chairman of the Gbi-Bla House of Justice, a group supporting the candidate, confirmed that there has been a significant rise in incidents of campaign poster destruction.

In Ghana, tampering with campaign materials, including removing or defacing them, is considered an electoral offence. Such actions are illegal and violate the electoral code, which imposes penalties that may include fines, imprisonment, or both.
