Education Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, known as NAPO, recently addressed Members of Parliament from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), urging them to uphold the decorum and purpose of Parliament as a place of intellectual discourse, not physical confrontations. Speaking on the Newsfile program, NAPO emphasized the importance of maintaining Parliament’s reputation as a respected forum for debate and national progress.

His remarks follow recent incidents that have seen heated exchanges in Parliament. NAPO pointed out that lawmakers must engage in dialogue and problem-solving rather than resorting to confrontational tactics, which he argues detracts from the serious work needed to address the nation’s challenges. He expressed concern that such actions risk eroding public trust in Parliament as an institution meant to serve the people.

NAPO’s comments resonate amid a growing call from citizens and advocacy groups for parliamentary members to embody professionalism and collaborate effectively, despite their differences. His message is seen as a reminder to MPs to honor their responsibilities and contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s governance.
