The South Tongu District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Innocent Lynford Kwesi Tetteh has stated that work on the Agave road was set to commence but halted due to directives from above.
He revealed that there was an order for the suspension of activities and the parking of DRIP (District Roads Improvement Project) equipment. This decision has caused delays in the road construction and improvement efforts in the area.
He revealed this when he was attacked by a citizen for failing to complete the Agave road. The statement reads;
“You fail your own town ( Agave people ok). You told us that the drip machine will work at Agave Afedume road first but you haven't. Why??? And you later told them that after the special voting till now hmmm we haven't see any thing why ???”, a young man asked.
In his response, he made it clear it wasn’t his fault the project couldn't commence.
“My paddy, the situation regarding the work on Agave Road has taken a concerning turn. Although plans were well underway for the commencement of operations, we have encountered significant challenges that have halted progress.
Work was set to begin on Agave Road; however, we received directives to cease all activities and park our equipment. This decision was made in response to serious safety concerns stemming from physical attacks and threats directed at our team.
It is crucial to address these safety issues before any further steps can be taken toward resuming work on Agave Road. The well-being of our personnel remains our top priority.” he replied.
