Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has considered the difficulties encountered during this turbulent time as Ghana's 8th Parliament draws to a close.

On Monday, January 6, 2025, Afenyo-Markin said in a declaration in parliament that the NDC Minority was a "tough, stubborn, difficult side" that made reaching compromises all but impossible.

Many people didn't understand why I was aggressive on several times, Mr. Speaker. Some people said, "You are the majority leader, reach out," not understanding how the heat was on me.

The minority was such a hardy, unyielding, and challenging side, Mr. Speaker. According to Afenyo-Markin, "Mr. Speaker, you could never have an agreement with them because they were smelling power, and I understand, rightly so."

He emphasized how the Minority's lack of support makes it impossible to complete government business.

"I would have loved to finish a lot of government business, but I did not receive the support of my esteemed colleagues for political reasons and possibly for moral reasons," he continued.
