It is anticipated that the group, which is led by former Speaker of Parliament Prof. Mike Oquaye, will make practical recommendations for next elections.

An 11-member committee headed by former Speaker of Parliament Prof. Mike Oquaye has been assigned to look into the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) 2024 election defeat.

The committee has been granted three months to finish its job, and its main objectives will be to assess the party's internal elections, campaign tactics, and the difficulties that led to the electoral loss.

It is anticipated that the group would make practical recommendations for next elections.

The committee's goal, according to NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua, is to carry out an exhaustive analysis and offer suggestions to improve the party's operations.

In the 2024 elections, former President John Dramani Mahama defeated Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the NPP, who received 4,657,304 votes (41.61%), with 6,328,397 votes (56.55%).

In addition to Mahama's own political resurgence, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) achieved a big success with a majority in Parliament.

Ahead of his return as president, Mahama's mandate has been strengthened with the confirmation of more than 180 seats, including a number that were formerly controlled by the NPP.
