Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, the Odododiodioo member of parliament, has criticized President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, claiming that the departing leader has left no significant legacy as his term draws to a close.

Vanderpuye charged that instead of producing measurable results, the president relied on self-praise and inflated claims of accomplishments.

“The President was consistent in one thing: praising himself when he didn’t deserve praise and also presenting figures and scenarios that weren’t factual,” the MP said on Eyewitness News on Friday, January 3, 2025.

Vanderpuye also criticized the President's performance in sports development, calling it underwhelming. He maintained that under President Akufo-Addo's direction, the sector was neglected and fell short of Ghanaians' aspirations.

The MP's comments coincide with the President's final State of the Nation Address, in which he evaluated the accomplishments of his government during the previous eight years.

Regarding sports, for instance, a president who constantly aspires to be viewed as flawless and having excelled in his role. How would you like him to discuss the sports in which he has fared so poorly? This is because he acknowledges that one area in which he has succeeded so poorly is sports.

"The administration has also done a very bad job in the field of youth development. This is because all evidence point to the president's failure in those areas, despite all of the so-called interventions, including NABCO, planting for food, and jobs.

On Friday, January 3, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo gave his last State of the Nations Address in Parliament.

Speaking during his presentation, Akufo-Addo said that being President of Ghana had been the greatest honor of his life, citing both major setbacks and victories.

He admitted that his tenure in office had required all of his love, devotion, and enthusiasm for the nation.
