John Dramani Mahama, the NDC's flag bearer, committed to holding peaceful elections on December 7, 2024, by signing the 2024 peace pact.

This goes against the party's previous position that it would not sign the agreement if six requests were made, including Justice for the eight people slain during the 202 general elections was not achieved through the election of the Emile Short Committee report on the Ayawaso West Wuogon.

At the signing of the 4th Presidential Election Peace Pact in Accra on Thursday, November 28, however, a former president and the national democratic congress's 2024 flag bearer, John Dramani Mahama stated that the government's stance does not inspire trust in voters, and he and the NDC are personally committed to a peaceful election.

The former president emphasised that sincere efforts are necessary to uphold Ghana's standing as a peaceful democratic country and urged all parties to match their promises with their actions.
