After the upcoming elections in 2024, President Akufo-Addo has urged the security forces to firmly oppose any violent acts that jeopardise the nation's peace and stability.

According to the President, the goal of gaining political power must always be based on serving the people rather than using coercion or violence.

President Akufo-Addo emphasised that national peace is sacred and should never be sacrificed for political gain in his farewell Christmas address to the country on December 24.

He went on to say that no matter what obstacles arise, the Rule of Law will always triumph.

Never forget that the desire for power is not a call to arms; rather, it is a call to help those who might consider resorting to violence in order to accomplish their goals. Recognise this. The peace of our country is precious and will never be given up for selfish gain. No matter what, the Rule of Law will be upheld.

"Any action that jeopardises the stability and harmony of our land must be strongly opposed by the security services," he stated.

His remarks come as tensions and disagreements about election outcomes have escalated in several parts of the nation. Unrest following the election has been reported, including instances of vandalism against Electoral Commission offices and public property.

The unnecessary acts of violence that have tainted an otherwise admirable democratic process were denounced by President Akufo-Addo.

He highlighted that peace is the capacity to resolve dispute amicably rather than just the absence of conflict.

Since it is said that peace is not the absence of dispute but rather the capacity to resolve it amicably, let us make sure that each election strengthens our democracy and our unity. He continued, "Let's accept this wisdom as a compass for our future."
