Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the chairman of the NDC, has stated that the incoming government will revoke any promotions of government employees that were handed "last minute" promotions by the departing NPP administration.
Additionally, he says that if investigations reveal that "last minute" appointments in the government sector were made unlawfully, they will also be sacked.
The remarks were given by the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) while he was speaking at a victory rally in Sunyani on Friday, December 20, 2024.
According to information at his disposal, the NPP government promoted a number of government personnel in public institutions and agencies and issued over 10,000 appointment letters in the last week alone, he claimed.
He questioned the reason behind the NPP government's last-minute moves.
The NDC Chairman listed a number of organizations from which the NDC has obtained information regarding these "last-minute" appointments and promotions, including the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), the Ghana Revenue Authority's (GRA) Customers Division, the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), and the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA).
He claimed that in order to "cover up their illegal activities," the departing government had retroactively issued some of the appointment letters.
He further said that some government officials who were not eligible for advancements were elevated because they were thought to be New Patriotic Party (NPP) members.
According to Asiedu Nketia, the promoters were placed in high-ranking positions in the offices and agencies to hide the corruption of the previous administration.
He declared, "Anyone who unlawfully obtains employment and promotions in public institutions and agencies will be fired or have their status reversed."
Additionally, he threatened to remove any government employee involved in the "fake" hiring and promotions from their position if they did not defend or provide an explanation.
