Anthony Nukpenu, the National Democratic Congress' (NDC) Greater Accra Regional Organiser, has voiced grave worries about the security of electoral officials at the impending repetition of the unfinished polling station election in Dome Kwabenya.

His remarks come after the NDC vehemently opposed the Electoral Commission's (EC) decision to hold new elections at the Abokobi Women's Development Centre in the Dome Kwabenya constituency.

We haven't made a decision as of yet, but I can't promise their safety if they decide to proceed. of the electoral officials who will be assigned to oversee that one polling place, since the community has made it quite evident to your reporter that they have cast their ballots if they feel comfortable doing so.

On the 7th, they cast their votes, and Elikplim Akurugu won by a large majority. That outcome is still in place. Officials will not participate if they dare to bring voting boxes and ballot papers to render a different decision. In an interview on Sunday, December 29, 2024, on Channel One Newsroom, Nukpenu said, "But they can't guarantee the safety of those who will come and conduct that exercise."

He also emphasized the community's resolve to stick to their position and strongly advised against using security personnel to enforce the rerun.

"No one should believe that the Abokobi people will be intimidated by the military or the police. People will see what they want to see, and they will rise to the situation," Nukpenu continued.
